Back to the world

A wider perspective starts somewhere.

Elsewhere is an independent educational birth lottery and life simulation built around public data and visible assumptions.

Why Elsewhere exists

We rarely choose our starting conditions. Elsewhere makes that simple fact tangible: draw a different beginning, follow a possible life and look at the statistics behind it. The aim is curiosity about people and places, without turning a human life into a leaderboard.

Elsewhere is an original independent project. Its interface, copy, simulation and visual identity were created for this repository. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the United Nations, the World Bank or Our World in Data.

How to read a result

Country indicators are evidence about populations. Personal milestones are model outputs or fiction. We label the difference and publish the derivation. The model cannot describe the full range of experiences within a place and is not advice about health, migration, education or money.

Place names follow source and international localization conventions. Inclusion of a territory and map boundaries are statistical and geographic choices, not positions on sovereignty.

Accountability and corrections

This local edition includes source responses, checksums, unit tests and a data ledger in the repository. A questionable number can be traced from the result to its country field, year, source indicator and fallback rule. Corrections should update the documentation and add a new frozen model version, so old shared lives stay reproducible.

There are no accounts, advertisements, paid features or tracking scripts in this edition. No public operator or contact address is claimed; this build is a private local project.
